Just ran 3 miles, in my first running effort since being crushed by food poisoning/the flu last week. I'm way off my training schedule, and wondering if the half is going to happen.

:( Sorry to hear that. BUT your body remembers more then you think. Trust how it feels and push it up a bit and test it. I bet you find it responds and you will run better then you thought.
